Tourette's Syndrome

My 6-year-old daughter has Tourette's Syndrome. She's had it since she was three, but we didn't realize that she had it until last August. Today she was "officially" diagnosed by the developmental peds doctor. It has been very interesting observing her and her tics. The tics wax and wane, and for her, probably won't be as difficult to manage as her ADHD. Kids with TS can also have OCD and ADHD, which are far more difficult and can cause more problems for the child than the actual ticking. She is doing very well, though, and despite her constant interruptions from her brain, she is learning to read, and is a very happy, loving little girl. We love her very much. Here is a clip from a documentary about Tourette's that was made a few years ago. I hope you'll spend a few minutes watching it. I think the best way to treat this disorder (since there is no known cure), is to educate people about it. This is not the full documentary, but it can be purchased on the TSA-USA website

That was a nice video. Have you seen the movie called "Phoebe in Wonderland?" I though it was beautiful and I think perhaps you will find some things resonate for you. (Do you get Netflix over there? It's in the "Watch Instantly" section.)

Your family is beautiful and fascinating, like you. Thanks for continuing to share.
