I know, it's a strange title for a blog, but I have two stories to tell about Stuart's 8th birthday, one story I'm proud of, and the other, well, not so proud of.
Stuart turned 8 today, so we went to Toys R Us for our family tradition of letting the child pick out one toy that costs about $10. Stuart found these Pokemon ball key chains for about $4 each. Stuart decided that he wanted to buy one for himself, and then use the rest of the birthday money to get one for his cousin and one for his sister. I don't know very many kids who would be willing to share their birthday money like that. I told the lady at the register what Stuart had done, and she turned to Stuart and said, "That's so cool! Give me 5!" Stuart reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash. He didn't quite get what she meant. I couldn't have been more proud of my son, though. He is such a sweet boy.

Now for the next story. After Toys R Us, we went to the movies to see Prince Caspian. The movie was great, except the sound system was messed up. It kept going from stereo surround sound to mono. It was rather frustrating. It seemed, that at those quiet times, when we couldn't hear the movie very well and the theater seemed so quiet, my dear sweet daughter would rip a long and low one (pass gass). She just wouldn't stop. She was sitting on my lap at the time, and I felt like the whole theater was probably trying not to laugh. Like I said, it was a steady stream of sound. I was so embarrassed! How do you tell a 4-year-old to stop passing gas? And who would have thought a sweet little girl could make such a sound (and outperform the movie)? It was so disrupting. At least we weren't in church. People would have thought I had done it. In the theater, nobody could see me blushing because the darkness concealed my face. Thank goodness for that!
