Fishing

I woke up very early this morning and took Brooke and Stuart fishing.  Stuart has been begging me for weeks to go.  I caught a little trout, but threw him back.  We worked our way around the little reservoir, and just before we left, Stuart cast out, and his hook got caught on some tangled line that was caught on another fish.  So he actually caught a fish that got away from someone else.  Pretty good for his first fish.  He liked fishing, but I don't think he enjoyed having a dead fish.  I think he would prefer having it as a pet.  We took it home anyway, and I taught him how to gut it.  Today we'll take it over to our neighbor's, because she is an expert on frying fish.  I can't wait.  I haven't had fresh trout in years.  Brooke was so cute.  She just kept saying "I just love to go fishing."  After Stuart caught the fish, she kept saying, "I can't wait to eat the fish!"  I actually didn't fish much; I spent most of my time untangling lines and trying to prevent Brooke from falling into the water (she loved climbing all over the rocks that were sticking out of the water).

You are the coolest Mom ever. I remember fishing as a kid, but I think I'll save that as a Grandpa treat for my boys.
