I love to try new things. I guess that's the blessing (or curse) of my ADD. In April I bought a pressure canner because I wanted to try canning dinner. The first thing I canned was ground beef. I then canned some leftovers of one of my favorite meals to make, Hawaiian Franks. Last night I made my favorite soup, hamburger soup. I made plenty, so I canned some of it while we were eating dinner. The hamburger I used was the beef I had canned in April. It was delicious. I love making my own convenience food. It's easier to cook dinner on busy days when I have it already canned.

I'm impressed Dana. You're a genius. One of my roommates ate homemade canned beef, and I'd never seen anything like it before. Your stuff looks way more appetizing than hers ever did. =)
The canned beef didn't look as good as this soup does. The fat congeals a little. I was very surprised at how good it smelled when I opened my ground beef. I cooked it up with some mexican lasagna I made the other night. You can fit almost 1 lb of beef in a pint jar. I also cooked up some sloppy joe stuff (meat and sauce together). All I have to do to use it is boil it for 10 minutes, and it's done. I can't wait to experiment with more meals.
