Acoustic Jam

If you play an acoustic instrument, and want to play in a jam session (even if you're just learning) then come join us on Friday nights. Tonight our family went to a "beta-testing" acoustic jam session. I haven't played my instruments in a while because of problems I've been having with my hands. I brought my guitar and mandolin, and Sam brought along his banjo. We were both a little rusty, but it was so much fun to be playing instruments again. I still had to wear gloves half the time to keep my hands warm, and had to stop frequently because of numbness, but it was so much fun. All the musicians were amateurs, so I didn't feel uncomfortable. There was an open mic session after the jam, and I even attempted a song (with vocals--the melody was low). The guy who is setting this up is Stuart's computer clubhouse teacher. He set up a little computer workstation in one part of the room, so Stuart was entertained (although we are thinking about teaching him a few chords so he can join in the jam). Roger just danced around and had fun getting in the way. He also liked yelling in the speakers, until I spoke to him through the mic. He jumped a little at that. We might make this a regular family outing.
