Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.

Thanksgiving Weekend
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My brother came down with his family from Northern WA (about 2 hours from us) to join us. I was so busy getting the dinner ready, that I didn't even think to take any pictures of the actual feast! Oh well. I made a pumpkin pie from scratch (I bought a couple of sugar pumpkins and cooked them down just for this purpose). I also made a blueberry cream pie (my new personal favorite), and used blueberries that we had picked in August.
On Friday we took a hike on one of the trails here in our own town. We hiked along the trail which affords a beautiful view of Puget Sound. We walked all the way to the observatory, which was a little disappointing. I was expecting something more than a plaque fastened to a cement block. I guess at one time there was a great view of the Sound from this lookout, but the trees have grown too tall. The hike lasted three hours. Our kids had so much fun playing with their cousins. I am thankful for holidays where we can gather with extended family members.
